Delta Airlines: Check-in rules for excess or overweight/oversize baggage

Flying with Delta Air Lines can be a pleasant experience, but it’s always important to understand baggage rules and regulations to avoid any surprises at the airport.

This airline’s baggage policy is based on the number of bags, their size and their weight. Passengers are allowed to take a certain number of items on their flight, and any additional baggage is subject to excess baggage charges. The standard allowance for most Delta Air Lines flights is two checked bags per passenger, each weighing no more than 50 pounds.

Delta Air Lines charges excess baggage fees when a passenger brings more bags than allowed, or when a piece exceeds the size or weight limit. Excess baggage charges vary by route, destination and season. However, fees are generally higher for international flights.
