Easy and free cancellation
AA customers can now cancel their award tickets free of charge (prior to scheduled departure) and redeem their miles. Once the reservation is cancelled, the miles will be credited back to the account within a few days.
American Airlines also announced that customers who cancel their award reservations will now have an extended period of twelve months to use their reinstated miles. This means they will have more time to use their points and plan future trips.
